FANUC will be presenting innovative solutions for painting and coating processes at Paint Expo (14–17 April 2026) in Karlsruhe, Germany. At the FANUC stand (hall 3/stand 3438), visitors will learn how automation can make painting processes more efficient, reproducible and of higher quality – from consistent process parameters to consistently high surface quality. The focus will be on applications that address typical requirements in painting technology: stable path control and speed, reliable process parameters and the avoidance of overspray and rework.
Live at the stand, a FANUC P-55/15-21A painting robot will demonstrate the efficient painting of a toy. Thanks to its hollow wrist, media guides such as cables and hoses can be protected and integrated in a process-reliable manner. The payload capacity is up to 15 kg. In addition, the collaborative lightweight robot CRX-10𝑖A/L Paint will demonstrate the coating of a motorcycle helmet. The ATEX certified cobot is designed to work alongside humans and supports flexible cell concepts; the maximum payload is 10 kg. A particular highlight is FANUC's latest painting robot model, the P-55/15-21A, a pre-series unit will be showcased for the first time in Europe before it’s official launch.
With a reach of over two metres, the P-55/15-21A enables the painting of larger components while offering high path accuracy for excellent paint quality. For greater efficiency and lower maintenance, the explosion-proof circuits have been redesigned and the number of components reduced – so that all functions can be accommodated in a single control cabinet. Battery-free encoders further reduce maintenance costs and support resource-efficient production. The official market launch of the P-55/15-21A in Europe is expected in 2026.
FANUC is the world's leading robot manufacturer with the largest portfolio of painting robots and coating applications for industry. The company also acts as a system integrator in the field of painting and coating applications. A current example is the Deutsche Bahn maintenance plant currently under construction in Cottbus, Germany, where FANUC, together with cabin technology specialist SLF Oberflächentechnik GmbH, is supplying a fully automated painting line for ICE carriages. FANUC itself operates a large paint lab in Neuhausen near Stuttgart, Germany, where customer applications are tested and implemented.
“Automation not only helps companies to counteract the shortage of skilled workers, but also offers advantages in terms of quality, availability and sustainability,” says Jan Kamenicky, Head of Painting at FANUC Europe. “This durability, combined with energy-efficient operation, maintenance-friendly design and FANUC's unlimited service, makes us an ideal partner for companies that are committed to sustainable and resource-efficient production.”
