Real-Time Robot Motion Control with Stream Motion

Enable real-time robot motion control with Stream Motion. Stream trajectory data directly from external systems to the robot controller and adapt robot movements in real time. Respond dynamically to sensor inputs, vision systems, and custom software, enabling robots to follow changing paths rather than relying solely on fixed, predefined motion.

Navigate Robot Motion in Real Time

Traditional robot programs have typically been built around predefined paths and repeatable motions. While this approach works for many manufacturing processes, some applications require robot motion to adapt continuously based on changing inputs from sensors, vision systems, or external software.

Stream Motion provides a way for external systems to generate trajectory data in real time and stream those commands directly to the robot controller for execution. This enables motion control for paths generated dynamically by external CPUs and software, rather than predefined in TP programs. It is particularly useful for applications where traditional automation, with fixed, repeatable paths, is not suitable, such as real-time 3D vision-guided processes, adaptive machining, and advanced or research environments requiring flexible, externally driven motion.

Learn More About Stream Motion

Learn how Stream Motion supports real-time robot motion control through this FANUC Technical Transfer video. The tutorial explains how external devices can stream trajectory commands directly to the robot controller, enabling paths to be generated at runtime for applications that require precise, adaptive, or externally driven motion.

The video covers Stream Motion capabilities, application examples, communication timing, packet flow, dynamic motion limits, packet buffering, and key considerations for developing an external motion planner.
