European championship for young robot experts

FANUC and WorldSkills host competition for up-and-coming system integrators

Europe's best young robot programmers will meet in Gdańsk, Poland, from 5 to 9 September 2023 for the EuroSkills Championship. There they will demonstrate their skills in implementing practical robot applications. The participants come from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania and the United Kingdom.

In total, there will be competitions in 43 different trades ranging from traditional crafts to web development, with 600 young people from 32 countries taking part. The event is expected to attract around 100,000 visitors.

EuroSkills is organised by the educational organisation WorldSkills in cooperation with sponsors. The world's largest robot manufacturer FANUC has been acting as a Global Sponsor for WorldSkills since 2018 and supports the organisation of the competition in the discipline "Robot Systems Integration" at European and international level.

While the trend towards automation is advancing and robots are not only used in industrial companies, but also in trade and agriculture, there is a lack of suitably trained specialists in many countries. By organising competitions and cooperating with universities and schools, FANUC wants to interest young people in careers in robotics.

The next Europe-wide competition for young robot system integrators will be held in Herning, Denmark, in 2025. A year earlier, the international vocational championship WorldSkills will take place in the French city of Lyon.
