FANUC’s new H-Frame positioner for the European market is engineered for high payloads and precision, simplifying arc welding tasks that require co-ordination with six-axis robot arms. Providing synchronised motion for enhanced stability and supported by complete integration with FANUC controllers, the addition of the H-Frame positioner ensures manufacturers no longer need to use a third-party supplier of this crucial equipment to meet their automated arc welding requirements.

The robust, dual-station H-frame positioner enables automated arc welding on one side with seamless part loading and unloading on the other. The result? Continuous automated and repeatable welding, shortening cycle times, improving weld quality and driving profitability.

“With the addition of this unit, we are now a single-source solution for automated welding solutions, offering H-Frame positioner, ARC Mate robot, R-30𝑖B Plus controller, connectors and other system components,” explains Robert Koopman, Chief Technical Officer at FANUC Europe. “End users and system integrators no longer need to source a third-party positioner, simplifying the connectivity of welding cells. Notably, the positioners make use of our proven high-performance, high-reliability motion control technologies, supported by spare parts availability for the entire product lifespan.”

The floor-mounted H-Frame positioners feature a central welding shield and come in two versions offering either 1500 kg or 500 kg maximum payload on each side. Customers can choose from a selection of turning diameters and fixture lengths.

The indexing table provides centralised FANUC-standard connections to the robot controller, further assisting seamless system integration. Advanced software functions and co-ordinated motion ensure consistent surface speeds to maximise arc welding productivity and integrity.

While H-frame is the market’s most common configuration of welding positioner, certain applications can benefit from other designs. FANUC is already busy expanding its new welding positioner range with further configurations for release in 2026: a headstock-tailstock concept and a turntable design – both in various capacities/sizes. These new developments will further contribute to the expansion of FANUC’s existing servo-positioner range, which currently spans 1-axis hollow positioners, 1-axis compact positioners and 2-axis positioners for increased precision, versatility and efficiency in arc welding operations.
