FANUC Laboratories
Our laboratories are a dynamic hub where groundbreaking ideas are meticulously crafted by our talented team of researchers.
Innovation at its Core
FANUC constantly strives to push the boundaries of industrial automation. Central to this are our cutting-edge laboratories and brilliant engineers who are not satisfied with developing top-class products, but are constantly testing and improving them by installing new products in our own factories and feeding back production data into our development. In this way, our laboratories serve as the centrepiece of pioneering technological development and continuous product improvement.
FANUC's Technological Evolution in Factories and Laboratories
CNC Hardware Research and Development Division
Conducts research and development of highly reliable CNC hardware, by extensively using the latest electronics technology to achieve high performance in machining, high operation rate, and ease of use.
CNC Software Research and Development Division
Conducts research and development of highly reliable CNC software which boasts high performance in machining, high operation rate, and ease of use, while responding to the needs for intelligence and promotion of IT in machine tools.
SERVO Research and Development Division
Conducts research and development of SERVO MOTORs and SERVO AMPLIFIERs. The Laboratory also develops encoders and control software for achieving higher speed and high precision control capabilities.
ROBOT Mechanical Research and Development Division
Based on the key technologies for CNC and Servo developed by the FA Business Division, the design and development of robot mechanical units are conducted to realise high performance, high reliability, and high productivity. Our robots contribute to automation in the automotive, electric, food, and pharmaceutical industries, among other fields.
ROBOT Software Research and Development Division
The Robot Software Development Laboratory has been researching & developing robot controller system software, motion system, application software, intelligent software, and PC software. We are enhancing to the ever important network system, and also developing our in-house vision system and force sensor.
ROBODRILL Research and Development Division
Conducts research and development of compact machining centers with high performance in machining, while minimising downtime and optimising ease of use.
ROBOSHOT Research and Development Division
Conducts research and development of electric injection moulding machines with high performance in moulding, minimising down time and optimising ease of use to achieve solutions for robotisation and IoT connectivity of machining factories.
ROBOCUT Research and Development Division
Conducts research and development of wire electrical-discharge machines with high performance in machining, minimising downtime and optimising ease of use to achieve solutions for robotisation and IoT connectivity of machining factories.
Next Generation Technology Laboratory
The Next Generation Technology Laboratory is unlike other laboratories which develop products. Researchers from other laboratories are gathered to engage in the development of underlying technologies which will be required in a few years, in a "one FANUC" structure that transcends divisions.
Advanced Research Laboratory
The FANUC Advanced Research Laboratory was newly established on the west coast of the United States. Through interaction with UC Berkeley, and Stanford University, the Laboratory strives to make CNC's and robots more intelligent.
