As a leading manufacturer of industrial robots, CNC controls and machine tools, FANUC celebrated the ground breaking for its new Nordic headquarter with a symbolic shovel stitch.
FANUC is investing 100 million SEK into its new Nordic headquarters in Malmö to drive the expansion of the company even further. During the last five years the company has seen annual growth rates of 25 to 35 percent. This week the company celebrated the ground breaking at its new location in the City of Malmö. The official team onsite, consisted of Pehr Andersson, Business Director of Malmö City, Cerold Andersson, Manging Director, FANUC Nordic and Thomas Ellkvist, Managing Director, MVB, the chosen construction company.
FANUC is one of the leading manufacturers of industrial robots, CNC controls and machine tools worldwide. “Today will be a day to remember and a great part of the FANUC Nordic's history. With our presence in Greater Copenhagen, we see a great potential in growing the company even more than before. The city of Malmö have supported us well in the planning phase for our establishment as they prior to focus on international business establishments in the region, "says Cerold Andersson.
The location is perfect for us, since we reach a large proportion of our customers in southern Sweden and Denmark in just a few hours. We have an exciting journey ahead of us. With our new "Experience Center" and extensive training facilities, we will provide knowledge and training of labor that contribute to the development in Malmö and surrounding areas", continues Cerold Andersson.
“Very welcome to Malmö and congratulations on your new establishment in the region”, says Pehr Andersson. “We strongly support innovative and exciting companies like FANUC Nordic, so we are glad that you have chosen Malmö, among other attractive places in the Nordic and Northern Europe. We are looking forward to FANUC's establishment, and we are confident that the company will contribute to the innovative feel and entrepreneurial power, especially from a company of your size. It is very exciting with international companies; it adds an extra star glue to Malmö.” In 2013, FANUC Nordic was formed when three independent units, CNC, Robot and Robomachine was merged into one company. Further, in 2015, FANUC Nordic's new office in Stockholm opened. The company has expanded since then and the new office in Malmö will provide opportunities for continued growth. In addition, during these years, two branches, both in Odense, Denmark and in Vantaa, Finland are established. The office in Sollentuna will be adapted to the future needs when the new Nordic head office is finalised.
The demand of industrial robots in this area has opened many doors for FANUC. One of the most interesting trends recently is the growing use of the companies´ collaborative robots. These cobots can literally work hand in hand with humans, without the need of protective fences. FANUC's product portfolio of collaborative robots is the widest and the CR-35 is the strongest available collaborative robot on the market. The “cobots” are equipped with advanced sensor technology that enables them to interact safely with humans. In addition to monitoring the robot’s position and speed, these sensors stop and retract the robot safely should contact occur with a human.
“FANUC's collaborative series is perfect for a wide range of industrial applications as the portfolio is available with a lifting capacity from 4 kilo to 35 kilo”, stresses FANUC Nordic Managing Director Cerold Andersson. “Several companies in the Nordic region have shown interest in using cobots in their production sites.”
